  • Dr ŁUCJA BIEL


    Sworn translator of Polish and English, freelance translator and proofreader with expertise in legal and business translation, has worked for high-profile translation agencies and institutions from the EU and the USA since 1997. A graduate of Jagiellonian University (MA in Translation/English Studies), University of Gdańsk (Ph.D. in Linguistics), University of Cambridge (Diploma in English and EU Law) and Chicago-Kent School of Law. She researches into legal translation, currently working on the parallel corpus of English>Polish legal translation.



  • Dr MAGDALENA BIELENIA-GRAJEWSKA


    Dr Magdalena Bielenia-Grajewska teaches and researches at the University of Gdańsk (Department of Translation Studies and Intercultural Communication). She is a linguist (MA in English Studies) and an economist (MA in Economics). Her PhD thesis was connected with translation and investment banking. She is a member of the editorial board of IJANTII (International Journal of Actor-Network Theory and Technological Innovation). Her scientific interests include LSP, translation, intercultural communication, sociolinguistics, visual metaphor, ANT, Social Representation and organizational discourse.



  • Dr OLGA KUBIŃSKA


    Dr Olga Kubińska teaches and researches at the Department of Translation Studies and Intercultural Communication. She is a specialist in literary translation.



  • Dr JUSTYNA GICZELA-PASTWA


    Dr Justyna Giczela-Pastwa is an assistant professor in the Department of Translation Studies and Intercultural Communication (Gdańsk Centre for Translation Studies). She is also a practising translator and a proofreader of legal, business and psychological texts. Holding a degree in English (University of Gdańsk) and in music (the Academy of Music in Gdańsk), she has a good ear for translation.



  • Dr KRZYSZTOF FILIP RUDOLF


    Graduate of the English Department, University of Gdańsk. Translator of British and American literature (J. Joyce, W. Golding, D. Lodge, K. Ishiguro, G. Swift, S. Rushdie, T. Capote, D. Lessing, and others). Worked for the British Council Studium, University of Gdańsk (1992-2002). Director of School for Translators EU in Gdańsk where he runs translation workhops. A practising lexicographer (English-Polish and Polish-English Dictionary of False Friends - Słownik wyrazów zdradliwych WL 2003, English-Polish Dictionary of Troublesome Words - Słownik wyrazów pułapek WL 2004, Enslish-Polish Dictionary of Synonyms and Antonyms - Angielsko-polski słownik synonimów i antonimów WL 2007). Currently an assistant lecturer at the Department of Translation Studies and Intercultural Communication. In 2010 defended his Ph.D.dissertation on irreversible binomials in English.



  • PAULA GORSZCZYŃSKA, MA


    Conference interpreter of Polish, English and German, ESL instructor. Graduated in English studies (linguistics) from the University of Gdansk with master’s thesis supervised by Professor Roman Kalisz. Then graduated from Post-graduate Studies for Conference Interpreters at the UNESCO Chair for Translation Studies and Intercultural Communication, Faculty of Philology, Jagiellonian University, Krakow, awarded with participation in conference interpreting workshop run by EU interpreters, held within the framework of European Parliament scholarships for interpreters. Provides simultaneous and consecutive interpreting at meetings such as specialist and academic conferences, trainings, seminars, trade talks, negotiations and press conferences.
